Somali forces kill 20 militants, take over 7 villages in a deadly gunfight

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Somalia's especially trained commando force DANAB killed at least 20 militants and liberated 7 villages from the Somali militants, local media reported.
The offensive, which was has been carried out by especially trained Commando known as Danab, took back 7 villages namely Moradiinle, Buula Miskiin, Ma’alinka, Baladul Amin, Raqayle, Sabriye & Buula Bashir in Somalia’s lower shabelle region.
Osman Abdi Malik who spoke on behalf of the Danab forces told the journalists that his troops caused the Shabab to suffer heavy casualties and will continue to push the Shabab out of the areas under their control.
Danab forces have been trained by the US military in Somalia and carried out similar offensives against the militants including special operations.
Shabab, Al-qaeda affiliate to Somalia has been carrying out attacks against the Somali government and the African union forces in Somalia. The group continues to be a threat not only to Somalia and the entire region as well. The group claimed the deadly truck bomb attack in Mogadishu that killed at least 100 people in Mogadishu.

The newly liberated villages are between Sablaale and Baraawe in Lower Shabelle region.
