    Shabab Arrests people in Central Somalia in Search for Ransom - reports

    MOGADISHU (Horn Observer) Al-Shabab has arrested civilians in some parts of the town and forced to pay a ransom, the Somalia state media reported.

MOGADISHU (Horn Observer) Al-Shabab has arrested civilians in some parts of the town and forced to pay a ransom, the Somalia state media reported.

Galgadud Mohamed Elmi toldĀ  the local media that al-Shabab began to abduct civilians for ransom and later asking for ransom money.

The chairman noted thatĀ  the business community in the areas under the Shabab control were forced to buy weapons for the group.

Recently Shabab ordered to the business people to reject the Somali shillings, raising tensions in some parts of central Somalia regions, notably the town of Beletwein.
