    Somalia President opens the 2nd session of the Upper House of Parliament, tells both Houses to strengthen Cooperation

    MOGADISHU, 12 July, (Horn Observer) The President of the Federal Government of Somalia has on Wednesday opened the 2nd session of the Upper House of the parliament and urged both houses to strenghten cooperation on areas of national interest.

MOGADISHU, 12 July, (Horn Observer) The President of the Federal Government of Somalia has on Wednesday opened the 2nd session of the Upper House of the parliament and urged both houses to strenghten cooperation on areas of national interest.

Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, the President of the Federal Government of Somalia urged the senators to work out successfully the vision of the Somali people and give a high priority in the re-acquisition of the integrity and sovereignty of Somalia, according to a statement released by office of the Somali president.

In the statement, the president underscored the difficult tasks ahead of the upper house including the review of the constitution, Assessing the political and socioeconomic situation of the country and setting up power sharing program among the Federal state members.


"Both Houses must work together on areas of national interest by putting aside personal, group or communal interests.” Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo said in the statement.

The president urged the two Houses of the Parliament to strengthen cooperation  in accordance with Article 56 of the Interim Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

Both houses have just returned from vacation, after the first session of the parliament closed on late April.
