Somali PM chairs Covid-19 emergency response conference
MOGADISHU - Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Khaire on Tuesday evening chaired a meeting for the national COVID-19 response committee.
The committee discussed the
urgent need to provide medical assistance to the worst-hit areas by the
virus. Galmudug leader Ahmed Ali Kariye ‘Qorqor’ attended this latest
routine meeting briefing the committee on the COVID-19 situation in his
region.
The country has more than 1700 confirmed cases and 67 deaths countrywide as of Wednesday.
The Galmudug leader appealed to
the committee to dispatch immediate medical supplies to Galmudug,
especially Adado, which has in recent weeks witnessed a sharp rise in
COVID-19 cases, despite the poor health situation in many parts of the
state.
In response to his plea, Prime
Minister Hassan Ali Khaire directed the committee and the federal
ministry of health services to send urgent medical supplies to the
region to help the Galmudug state curb the spread of the virus.
