    Blast kills 2 in Somalia's Capital

    MOGADISHU, Somalia (Horn Observer) At least two people including a senior police after a blast a car carrying the police officer in Mogadishu's Hamarwein district, witnesses and officials said.

Al-shabab claimed responsiblity for today's attack on police officer's car.
MOGADISHU, Somalia (Horn Observer) At least two people including a senior police after a blast a car carrying the police officer in Mogadishu's Hamarwein district, witnesses and officials said.

Witnesses said the blast which occurred in an area adjacent to the Hooyooyinka Building, killing at least 2 people.

Initial reports said that the attack which target a senior police officer identified as Jaabiri,  was believed to be fitted on the police officer’s car, then later exploded.  Another source also that it was a roadside bomb.

Somali government spokesperson Ismael Mukhtar Omar said on a twitter post that  a senior police officer identified as Jaabiri, who was the target of the attack died, when a bomb placed inside his car exploded, whereas other soldiers on the car  reportedly survived.


"A police officer called Jaabiri was killed in the attack and several other police officers survived” Ismael Mukhtar Omar, spokesperson for the Somalia’s ministry of information said on twitter.

Somalia’s Alqaeda Affiliate, AlShabab  claimed the responsibility of the attack.

Despite city lock-downs, attacks continue to happen in Somalia’s capital, showing signs of security lapses.
