BAIDOA, Somalia, JULY 14 (Horn Observer) A ceremony that marked the launch of local government law for Southwestern Administrations, was held here in Baidoa in this week.

The ceremony was organized and hosted by Ministry of Interior and local governments of Southwest State. the President of the Southwestern Administration, Sharif Hasan Sheikh Adan, lawmakers, representatives from Galmudug, Jubbaland and Hirshabelle states, CSOs, representatives from European and representatives from Finnish government attended.

The launch sets the foundation of the first phase the establishment of local governments of Hudur, Baidoa, Berdaale, Elberde and Diinsor.

The Launch of the local government law, which is the first of its kind to be implemented in Somalia aims to establish functioning permanent local government councils and administrations.
