    Somalia: Kenyan Fighter Jets Hit Shabab Basis in Gedo Region - Official

    BARDHERE, Somalia July 17 (Horn Observer) Kenyan Fighter Jets have on Sunday hit several targets in a Shabab controlled areas in Gedo region, close to the Kenyan borders, officials and residents said.

BARDHERE, Somalia July 17 (Horn Observer) Kenyan Fighter Jets have on Sunday hit several targets in a Shabab controlled areas in Gedo region, close to the Kenyan borders, officials and residents said.

Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) are part of the larger African Union Mission in Somalia in the fight against the terrorists.




The areas targeted with the airstrikes include Kibis village in Gedo region, which is controlled by the Shabaab.

Deputy governor of Gedo region, Osman Nur Haji told the local media that airstrikes targeted Shabab basis and killed several in the attack.


It was not immediately clear the exact casualties of Sunday's attack against the Shabab controlled areas in the Southern Somalia region of Gedo, close to the border between Somalia and Kenya.

AU troops occasionally use airial attacks against the Shabab targets, However, Somali troops supported by US advisors and the KDF were known to have used strikes against the group.
