    7 Somali Aid Workers are freed in Southern Somalia

BAIDOA, (Horn Observer) 7 Somali aid workers who were kidnapped two weeks ago by the militant group near the town of Baidoa, have been freed, officials and relatives said


The release of the Somali aid workers were welcomed by the family members and GREDO, the local organization they worked for.

The local Somali aid workers numbering to 7 (3 men and 4 women) were working for GREDO, a local NGO based in Buur Hakaba district when hijacked two weeks between Buur Hakaba and Baidoa by suspected Shabab members.

It was not immediately clear if ransom was paid for the freedom of the aid workers.

Recently the group abducted other Somali aid workers Far Libaah area of Hiiraan region, among those hijacked include women and men.

Somali aid workers are increasing coming under attack and some of them falling into the hands of the militants in a matter of weeks or months, making the profession more dangerous.
