MOGADISHU (Horn Observer) At least two people were confirmed dead and several others wounded, after a suspected suicide car bomber detonated explosives at the Maka Mukarama road in Mogadishu, witnesses and officials said.

Witnesses said that a car filled with explosives were detonated near Hotel Ambassador Hotel and Daru Shifa Hospital at the Maka Mukarama road in Mogadishu, killing two and wounding several.

The government was not immediately available for comment. The Shabaab, an Alqaeda affiliate, which previously claimed similar attacks in Mogadishu, did not comment on the attack. Usually the group uses through Andalus Radio, a radio station controlled by group for the Shabaab’s propoganda.

This is the second attack on the same road in less than a week in Mogadishu. Last week, at least 6 people were killed and another dozen were wounded when a Large Explosion believed to be a suicide bomber hit near Mogadishu's Waberi Police Station in Mogadishu.

The Attack follows after the Somali and US government confirmed this week that senior Shabaab commander Ali Mohamed Hussein aka Ali Jabbal was killed in a coordinated operation which the Somalia government said was authorized by the Somali President.

However, Shabaab which has lost large swaths of territory to the Somali and AU forces, seem to be reviving again, after the group took over the town of Leego town in Lower Shabelle region without a fight after AMISOM troops vacated. AMISOM did not comment on the pull out of its troops, despite, a four day major conference between senior officials from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) an the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) held in Mogadishu, to lay groundwork for the transitioning of Somalia’s security from AMISOM to the country’s security forces.
