    Somalia: Guards Open Fire inside Somaliland Parliament Building Over Election Results

    HARGEISA (Horn Observer) A day after the election of the speaker of the Somaliland parliament, disagreement over the results of recent election of the speaker of the parliament led a lawmaker's body guard to fire at other lawmakers.

HARGEISA (Horn Observer) A day after the election of the speaker of the Somaliland parliament, disagreement over the results of recent election of the speaker of the parliament led a lawmaker's body guard to fire at other lawmakers.

Saleban Ali Koore, whose guards were accusing at firing and wounding another lawmaker identified as Nacnac, had heated disagreement with the results of the new speaker on Sunday’s elections.

Local media reported that gunfire was heard inside the parliament building, before the police took over the security of the area.


On Sunday, Somaliland parliament elected Baashe Mohamed Farah as the new speaker of the parliament after he contested with Abdirahman Tanyanle.  However, corruption overshadowed on Sunday’s election, leading a dispute among the members of the parliament.
