    Somalia: Military Court Hands down Death Sentence to 2 Convicts

    MOGADISHU, Somalia (Horn Observer) The Military court of Somalia on Tuesday handed down death sentences to two men who were found guilty in killing a traditional elder, State media reported.

MOGADISHU, Somalia (Horn Observer) The Military court of Somalia on Tuesday handed down death sentences to two men who were found guilty in killing a traditional elder, State media reported.

The convicts Hassan Ali Hassan Keerow, 23yrs and Abdirahman Isse Ali Fiidow 20 yrs were found guilty  for  killing Suldaan Hilowle Heefow Hussein on November 2, 2016 in Mogadishu's Wadajir district. Suldaan Heefow was a traditional elder and among the leaders who selected the regional parliament of Southwest Administration, the verdict read.

"Anyone who is not satisfied with the verdict, has the right to appeal.” the Verdict which was published in the website of the state run radio Mogadishu read.


Death sentences are common among the Somali military courts, despite international human rights organizations campaining for the elimination of the sentence.
