MOGADISHU, Somalia (Horn Observer) — Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Guled Mohamed introduced tough rules that govern the way the ministers interact with the media, according to a memo obtained by Horn Observer dated on 26 August, 2017.

"All sorts of media interactions including social media, radio and Tvs are subject to approval by the Prime Minister’s office” the Memo read.

The order which is the first of its kind imposed on members of the council of ministers follows after several government institutions issued several contradictory statements on  the recent Barire raid that was jointly carried by Somali and US special forces against the local farmers in Lower Shabelle region that killed at least 9 civilians.

The Somali government appointed ministerial committee to investigate the matter.
