MOGADISHU, (Horn Observer) An Employee working for the Aden Adde International Airport was killed on Wednesday in an car bomb explosion, witnesses said.

The official identified as Abuu Shiine was killed after an explosive device attached to his car was detonated at Maana Booliyo area in Mogadishu’s Shibis district. Another person was also wounded in the attack.

It was not immediately clear the reason behind the assassination of the airport official.

However, Shabab, a militant group affiliated to Alqaeda, immediately claimed the responsibility of the attack, saying that they had killed an airport employee in the attack.

Shabab carries out attacks against the Somali and African Union mission to Somalia known as AMISOM, in attempt to take over the control of the country.
Though the group lost large swaths of territory to Somali National Army and AMISOM, but the group remains threat to the security of the horn of Africa region.
