    Somalia: Puntland Forces Seize a boat Carrying Illegal arms

    BOSASO, (Horn Observer) Puntland Maritime security on Saturday seized a boat carrying illegal fire arms at areas close to Bosaso, Puntland's Bari region, officials said.

BOSASO, (Horn Observer) Puntland Maritime security on Saturday seized a boat carrying illegal fire arms at areas close to Bosaso, Puntland's Bari region, officials said.



According to the local media, the boat, which was reportedly came from Yemen, was carrying various types of fire arms and ammunition including pistols, BKM, AK47 and ammunition for Dashikas.

"These arms were part of the weapons the boat was carrying,” Mohamed Mohamoud Hassan, Senior commander from Puntland maritime security told the local media, "Puntland police caught some of the fire arms which the boat off loaded the Puntland coastal areas.”

"The boat has been caught 9km outside Bosaso,” Mr. Hassan added.

Its not yet clear the real owners of the fire arms, but Puntland officials said that they are investigating possible business people who are suspected to be the owners.

Some of the media reported that these weapons might have been heading to Central Somalia regions, but were owned by Puntland businessmen. Many analysts believe that the weapons might have been heading to Shabab, the militant group affiliated to Alqaeda, who are fighting against the Federal government of Somalia.

Its not the first the Puntland maritime security seize weapons at the Puntland’s Bari regions.
