ADDIS ABEBA (Horn Observer) The Speaker of the House of the Peoples' Representatives of Ethiopia, Abadulla Gemeda, resigned, after serving two terms as a speaker, Ethiopian media reports.

"A letter of resignation was submitted to the executive committee two weeks ago and the committee accepted his resignation.” according to The Reporter.

The media reports added that the resignation will then be submitted to the parliament, where EPRDF will present a new candidate for approval,

The reasons behind the abrupt resignation of the speaker who is accused for possessing two fake decrees, is yet to be known.

.
Many Analysts believe that the resignation of the speaker might be a protest of the federal government’s inability to handle Oromo-Somali conflict which forced thousands of Somalis and Oromos to flee their homes.

Last month, more than 30 Somalis were indiscriminately killed by Oromo security forces at the commercial town of Hawaday, intensifying the conflict between the two ethnic communities in Ethiopia.
