    Somalia: Somali and Turkish Prime Ministers Meet in Ankara, Turkey

    Mogadishu (Horn Observer) Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire on Thursday met with the Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildrim in Ankara, officials said.

Mogadishu (Horn Observer) Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire on Thursday met with the Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildrim in Ankara, officials said.


The two prime ministers discussed strengthening the security, combating terrorism, economic cooperation, among others, according to a statement released by the office of the Somali Prime Minister.

"Somalia and Turkey are two brotherly countries and are ready to support one another in the cooperation of the two countries.” Somali Prime Minister Hasan Ali Khaire said in a statement.


During the Somali Prime minister’s stay in Ankara, he is scheduled to meet the Somali community in Ankara and as well as visit the victims of the 14 October attack, who are being treated in Turkish hospitals.

The statement further notes that "Somali prime minister is planning to meet the Turkish President and discuss the latest developments of the country.

Following 14 October attack that killed more than 300 people, the top government leadership have been seeking solidarity and support in the fight against terrorism.

Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo recently paid official visits to the troop contributing countries among them Uganda, Ethiopia and Djibouti in a bit to drum up support in the fight against the Shabab.
