MOGADISHU (Horn Observer) A Military court in Mogadishu handed down a Shabab convict Ahmed Ali Aybakar, who was accused of besides his membership to the group for renting homes for the Shabab fighters and representing the group in the major hospital in Mogadishu, 10 years in military prison, officials said.

Mr. Aybakar was arrested in July in one of the Mogadishu Hospital where he was representing wounded Shabab fighter at the hospital as his cousin, according to court documents.

"The court acquitted Ahmed Ali Aybakar of being a member of al-Shabaab and was responsible for the treatment of wounded and sick Al-Shabaab patients and renting them houses under his name.” The court documents revealed.

The armed forces court in Mogadishu handed Mr. Ahmed Ali Aybakar to serve 10 years in military prison.

Al-Shabab which is an Alqaeda affiliate to Somalia has been waging wars against the government and the African union mission to Somalia in attempt to overthrew and impose their strict version of the Sharia.
