Somalia parliament approves government budget for the year 2020

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Somalia federal parliament on Tuesday jointly approved $476.5 million budget in the year 2020 in an overwhelming vote, SONNA reported.
The $476,150,902 budget which the parliament has been debating in recent weeks in a joint sitting passed 188 votes in favor, 1 rejected and 2 abstained, according to the Speaker of the lower house Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdirahman who was chairing the joint sitting.
The current exceeds 76 million compared to previous year, which 13.5% was allocated for social services, where 8.8% was allocated for the financial institutions. The rest which is 77.7% was allocated for the government’s budget.
The federal minister of Finance Dr. Abdirahman Duale Beyle and the parliament’s budget committee hailed the vote, which was held the last day of the ending year 2019.
