Hopes dashed for families of murdered Somali journalists
Somalia remains one of world's most dangerous places to be a journalist. Journalists not only face endless violations and assassinations –their perpetrators almost always get away with it, ensuring the vicious trend continues. According to data compiled by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), 69 journalists — including two in 2020— were murdered in Somalia since 1992 and almost all of these murders were committed with impunity without genuine investigations taking place. As CPJ's 2019 Global Impunity Index found, Somalia is the world's worst country for the fifth year in a row when it comes to failing to prosecute journalist murderers.

Local elders in Somalia's capital Mogadishu oppose prolonged city lock-down, injustice and nepotism by some of the government officials and called for the Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and prime Minster Kheyre to act swiftly before the situation gets out of control.

Somalia's Puntland, Jubbaland join hands to fend off Mogadishu's FGS
Somalia's Puntland and Jubbaland federal member states have now joined their hands to fend off what they described as continued interference by Mogadishu's Federal Government of Somalia.
The two member states also discussed the disregard of the constitution by FGS leadership ahead of the 2020/2021 Somalia elections.
