MOGADISHU, Somalia (Horn Observer) Members of Somalia Security and Intelligence agency (NISA) once again detained editor Radio Hiigsi, Mohamed Abdiwahab Nuur (better known as Abuuja), the latest in a string of violence against journalists and media practitioners in Somalia.
Members of Somali Security and Intelligence Agency (NISA) led by head of the Agency’s Shibis district commander Liiban Timojilac napped Mohamed Abdiwahab Nuur, Editor of Hiigsi at Mogadishu’s Shibis district shortly after leaving his house and took him to the notorious prison of Godka Jilacow, according to Hussein Ahmed Tifow, the Director of Radio Hiigsi.

"He informed me about that he was taken to Godka Jilacow prison, where he is being held”  Hussein Ahmed Tifow, the Director of Radio Hiigsi, "I think they are still angry at the Editorial piece, but this is not fair as far our constitution is concerned”

Mohamed Abdiwahab Nuur, the editor of the independent privately-owned Radio Hiigsi was detained by Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) last Saturday 29 February, 2020 in Mogadishu and was released without charge on March 2, 2020 for editorial piece that was aired by Radio Hiigsi on 26 February 2020.

The journalist ,Mohamed Abdiwahab Nuur, has been receiving threatening phone calls from the NISA commander of Mogadishu’s Shibis district Liibaan Timojilac and was informed on the phone that he will be re-arrested for not obeying NISA’s orders as he spoke about his ordeal in NISA prison’s Godka Jilacow during his captivity last week.

Friends and family members said that the journalist was seriously tortured with electric shocks, hit on the head with loaded guns last week for writing about critical editorial piece against Somali security services.

Analysts believe that the agency’s move represents Somali government’s position  in silencing the journalists and media practioenrs by intimidating, threatening and torturing.
