    Somalia Minister of Posts fires Acting Director General Over Lack of Cooperation

    MOGADISHU, July 23 (Horn Observer) The Acting Director General of the Ministry of Posts has been suspended from duty over allegations including lack of cooperation, a document obtained Horn Observer read.

MOGADISHU, July 23 (Horn Observer) The Acting Director General of the Ministry of Posts has been suspended from duty over allegations including lack of cooperation, a document obtained Horn Observer read.

According to the document, the Minister of Posts, Telecommunication and Technology Abdi Ashur Hassan suspended from duty the Acting Director General of the Minister Ahmed Haji Abdi over lack of cooperation and attempts to sabotage the minister’s activities including the communication act.

"Therefore, its notified that the acting Director General should handover the official duty to the Director of finance of the ministry Abdirahman Moalim Addow the document which was dated on 18 July and signed by the minister said.


The status of acting Director General do not require approval of the council of the ministers, while it may require cabinet endorsement if they have the full status of Director General or Permanent secretary.

On Saturday, the Interior ministry of Somalia said that it has replaced its Permanent secretary over lack of cooperation in a letter signed by the minister, an act which sparked conflict within the ministry.

The Minister of Interior of Somalia Abdi Farah Juha has officially suspended from duty the permanent secretary Yahye Ali Ibrahim and appointed Abdullahi Mohamoud Hassan as the new boss for the position, the ministry said in a document obtained by Horn Observer. The Ministry accused the former permanent secretary for lack of cooperation and sabotaging the ministry’s day to day activities, among other issues, the document read.

The State Minister of the ministry of interior Abdullahi Farah Wehliye opposed the minister’s decision to fire the permanent secretary calling it "Unlawful”, in another document obtained by the Horn Observer.

In another episode this week, the Chief of Staff of the Somali Presidency Fahad Yasin suspended the presidential secretary Habib Mohamed Egal who was close ally to the president during his campaign, in what many see an emerging power struggle and split among the president's inner circles

Recently, the Ministry of Information has replaced its Director General over allegations of corruption.
