    Despite global pandemic, EUTM provides PCC course to 30 SNA officers - Statement

    Mogadishu, Somalia – The closing ceremony of the 6th Platoon and Company Commander (PCC) course took place, this morning, at the General Dhagabadan Training Center 2 (GDTC-2).

Mogadishu, Somalia – The closing ceremony of the 6th Platoon and Company Commander (PCC) course took place, this morning, at the General Dhagabadan Training Center 2 (GDTC-2).

The 6th PCC that trained about 30 Officers of the Somali National Army (SNA) in the ranks of Lieutenant and Captain, was started on February 10, and has been concluded, despite the global COVID-19 pandemic, through video lessons and using multimedia equipment.

The course was performed to provide full preparation to future commanders regarding the planning of tactical activities. Among the subjects, the students learnt the Military Decision Making Process, the offensive/defensive operations planning process, the movement planning procedures in an IED environment and the Code of Conduct on the protection of women and minors.


The ceremony was attended by the EUTM-S Mission Force Commander, Brigadier General Antonello DE SIO, who followed the event on video tele-conference from the EUTMS Headquarters with the Head of Trainers Team, LTC Hernandez ZACARIAS and the Training Leader Department, Major Massimo SCHIOZZI.

On site, the Somali National Armed Forces Chief of Staff. Brigadier General Ahmed MADOOBE, the GDTC-2 Commander, Brigadier General Mohamed Mohamud SANEY and the SNAF General Staff Director of Training, Colonel Mohamed Hassan BUNEY were present.

During his speech, BG DE SIO underlined the fundamental importance of training for SNA especially in a period characterized by new challenges to face. Furthermore, he congratulated the GDTC-2 Staff and the participants for the commitment shown during the training, concluding with the hope that the situation will return to normal as soon as possible.

EUTM Somalia Contingent, even in this period of global difficulty, continues to support the build-up of the Somali National Armed Forces through Advising, Training and Mentoring activities.
