GAROWE, Somalia (Horn Observer) At least 12 people were killed and 35 others were wounded on Friday after twin explosions occurred at Af- Urur village of Puntland's Bari region, witness and local media reported.

Witnesses said that the first  explosion occurred at Tea shop where people who are buying khat were staying and the second explosion erupted at the same shop only after soldiers and people helping the wounded arrived.  Its is believed that the explosive devices were already hidden inside the shop

However,  Abdulkadir Abdullahi Bilcil, the director of the Bilcil hospital in Armo told the VOA Somali in an interview that 35 wounded people were brought to the hospital, some of them in critical condition. The death toll could rise anytime.

Shabab claimed the responsibility for the attack.

Puntland authorities have been fighting against the Shabab and ISIS affiliated groups in the region.  However, Shabab remains a potential threat, despite losing large territories to the Somali government.
