ADADO, (Horn Observer) Galmudug Vice President, Mohamed Hashi Arabey and Ali Ga'al Asir, the speaker of the Galmudug parliament on Thursday opposed the decision by the Galmudug President in which he sided with the Saudi Allaince against Qatar in a press conference held here in Adado, highlighting a renewed political crisis in the region.

The president of Galmudug, Ahmed Du'ale Haaf, a regional state in Central Somalia, issued a press statement in which he defied the government’s neutral decision over the Gulf crisis and sided with the Saudi Alliance.

However, Galmudug Vice President and Speaker of the parliament opposed the move and expressed support to the Federal government of Somalia's neutrality on the diplomatic raw.

"Galmudug is a complete regional state and there is no place where Galmudug officials came together and decided over the Gulf raw” Mohamed Hashi Arabey, Galmudug Vice President said at a news conference, "Galmudug has responsibility in observing the national treaties by the Federal government of Somalia and its our duty to protect it.”

"Galmudug should protect the unity of the Somalis” VP Arabey added.

While the Speaker of the regional parliament of Galmudug rebuked in what he termed as papers circulated in the internet without prior consultation.

"We are seeing papers being circulated to the internet in which we are not aware and not consulted with over the gulf crisis” Ali Ga’al Asir, the speaker of the Galmudug parliament said.

The split of the Galmudug officials came after the federal government of Somalia on Thursday reiterated its decision on June 2017 towards the Gulf crisis. According to a statement released by Somalia Ministry of Information stated that "Somalia takes neutral approach with a view to solve the crisis in some of the Golf States through diplomacy and brotherhood manner.”

This is not the first defiance statement from one of the Somalia's competing federal states. Last month, Puntland issued a statement in which it backed the Saudi and UAE over Qatar, while opposing the government’s decision on the case.

This week senior officials from Southwest State of Somalia called for the President of the Southwest administration, after issuing a statement in which his administration supported Saudi Alliance over Qatar.

Saudi Arabia and UAE continue to meddle the Somalia’s internal affairs and more recently Saudi Alliance is believed to be backing a motion against the Prime Minister Khaire’s government over its neutral decision on the Gulf Crisis.
