    Somalia: Puntland Seizes Outdated Forage at the Port of Bosaso

    Bosaso (Horn Observer) The office of Food Quality Control in Bosaso found out outdated forage unloaded from a boat at the port of Bosaso this week officials said.

Bosaso (Horn Observer) The office of Food Quality Control in Bosaso found out outdated forage unloaded from a boat at the port of Bosaso this week officials said.

According to the State run News agency, the laboratory findings show that poisonous chemical elements were found in the forage which could cause the animals to die.

The Director of department of Food Quality Control, Salaad Adan said that this forege is hazardous to the health of the animals and could immediately cause iminent animal diseases that effect the meat and milk of the affected animals.

Abdihakim Yusuf Husssein, the police chief of Eastern Division of Bari region that they will take legal actions against the individuals who imported these expired goods to Puntland.


"The expired foreAe will be burned down publicly.” Police chief Abdihakim Yusuf Hussein said as cited by State run media.

This is the first successful operation conducted by the office of the Food Quality Control  in Puntland.  There are also other investigations undergoing currently.

Since 1991, when the former military government collapsed, Somalia become a country where business war profiteers imported expired baby formula and foods, given that there were no effective governments that could deal with such issues that could cause serious health problems to the public.
