    Somalia and Azerbaijan agree to enhance bilateral relations

    MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) - Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud on Friday held talks with with his with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov in Turkey.

MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) - Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud on Friday held talks with with his with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov in Turkey. In a statement, Somali foreign ministry said the discussion between the ministers focused on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in several areas of mutual benefit between the two brotherly countries and peoples.

A new era has begun in the relations between Somalia and Azerbaijan, as the Somali ambassador, Jama Abdullahi Mohamed, presented his credentials to the Azerbaijani President, H.E. Ilham Aliyev, on June 12, as a non-resident ambassador, which consolidates the historical ties between the two countries.


Meanwhile, Abdirizak attended Antalya Diplomacy Forum in the southern province of Antalya where world leaders and dozens of foreign ministers as well as prominent diplomats, academics and journalists convened for several discussions.

According to statement by Somali foreign ministry, the forum hosted 12 heads of state, 43 foreign ministers, four former heads of state, representatives of international organizations and intellectuals from all over the world.

Abdirizak participated in a panel discussion on partnerships with Africa and mutual gains, during which he expressed Somalia’s welcome for investment and wide-ranging partnership.

The forum is expected to run between June 18 and 20 under the title of "Innovative Diplomacy: New Era, New Approaches” through multiple panels and round tables devoted to regional issues and thematic subjects.
