    MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) - Six suspected robbers have been arrested following series of police operations against a spate of robberies in Somali capital.

MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) - Six suspected robbers have been arrested following series of police operations against a spate of robberies in Somali capital.

Speaking to media, Police spokesman Sadiq Adan told the reporters that the dozens of cases were booked at different police station in the capital, prompting the police to launch operations.

According to the spokesperson, among the arrested gang of robbers is one of two men who were captured by CCTV camera while robbing a phone shop.

In the CCTV footage seen by Horn Observer, two young men are seen entering a phone shop before one of them brandishes a pistol.


The pistol-carrying man was instructing the shopkeeper to lie on the floor while his co-conspirator picks 19 phones including 15 iPhones from the shelves into a bag.

The shopkeeper is forced to lie on the ground throughout the incident before the two-armed men leave the shop.

Somali police have called on the public to remain vigilant and report such cases to police posts near their areas.

According to the spokesperson, other suspects were arrested tipped off by the members of the public in parts of the capital.
