MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) - Newly appointed European Union (EU) ambassador, Tiina Intelmann has today presented her credential to Somalia's outgoing president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.
In a meeting at Villa Somalia in Mogadishu, Farmaajo and Intelmann discussed the relations between the horn of African Nation and the EU.
President Farmaajo assured the envoys of the government's support as she discharges her mandate, saying Somalia is committed to building strong and friendly relations with EU.
"H.E @M_Farmaajo accepts credentials from Ambassador Tiina Intelmann the new Amb. Extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the European Union to Somalia. President Farmaajo praised EU's role in Somalia and guaranteed Amb. Tiina the FGS's continued cooperation to accomplish set gains,” Villa Somalia said in a twitter post.
Intelmann who appointed last August has replaced Nicolas Berlanga who had been serving the post since 2019.
The new EU ambassador who will head the European Union’s delegation to Somalia was the Estonian Ambassador to the United Kingdom from 2017 until August this year.
Between 2014 and 2017, she was the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Liberia.
Intelmann joined Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991. From 1999 to 2002, she was Estonia’s Permanent Representative to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna.
