MOGADISHU (Horn Observer) Gunmen have shot dead young doctor in Mogadishu on Wednesday night shortly before a government imposed night curfew takes into effect in the Horn of African country's capital.

Police sources told Horn Observer that two armed men attacked a clinic where Dr. Abdullahi Yusuf (also known as Sudani) was working. They shot him several times resulting to his instant death.

The police arrested suspects. There are no further explanation from the police.

According to family members and friends interviewed by Horn Observer, Dr Yusuf has returned to the country few year years ago and kick started his own clinic to treat the low income families.

"He was not a politician and he did not have any interest in that. Why do you kill a doctor? This government can not protect us," said Dr Yusuf's friend who only gave his initial as Ahmed.

AL-SHABAAB CLAIM

The al-Qaeda affiliate militant group al-Shabaab has took credit of Dr Yusuf's death claiming that 'he was under cover soldier working with the National Intelligence and Security Agency'.

Two weeks ago, armed militia suspected to be al-Shabaab group members have shot dead Dr Hassan Hayow, a respected paediatrician in Mogadishu's Yaqshid district.
