    Uganda: Journalists Impose Blackout On Security Agencies

    Kampala, Uganda - Media organisations have declared a blackout on security agencies following violence and attacks directed at Journalists during Kawempe North by - election.

Kampala, Uganda - Media organisations have declared a blackout on security agencies following violence and attacks directed at Journalists during Kawempe North by - election.

The Journalists' leaders condemned security agencies for directing repression at clearly identifiable members of the Press.

They urged all Editors to withdraw field reporters from covering security agencies until further notice

Journalists are demanding for compensation of all injured journalists,  damaged cameras , laptops, phones  including lost money. 

The joint Press Conference at  Kampala's Speke Hotel, was addressed by Uganda Parliamentary Press Association (UPPA) President Mr Samuel Ibanda, Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) President Mr Moses Alsayed  Lubega , Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) General Secretary Mr Emmanuel Kirunda, Uganda Journalists Union (UJU) National Treasurer Mr Kenneth Arereng and Human Rights  Network for Journalists (HRNJ) National Coordinator Mr Robert Sempala.
