SOMALIA: A NATION WORTH SAVING

A Call for Courage, Unity, and Responsibility: Somalia is in pain. Our borders are wide open. Our seas are polluted. A large number of our youth are dying in foreign waters. Another staggeringly large percentage of our people never set foot in a classroom.
We are rich in resources, but again a staggeringly large percentage of our people live in poverty. We have become fractured region against region, clan against clan. The flag feels lonely and abandoned. We have lost sight of what it means to live for Somalia or what it means to be a Somali.
It is no longer a political issue. It is a moral crisis. A shattered system built on silence, fear, corruption, and uncertainties. We say: Enough is enough.
We, the Somali people both local and diaspora, should not remain silent.
Those in the diaspora live in peace while the homeland is in turmoil. It is not fair. It is not right. You do not have to be a politician to care. You do not need to be wealthy to speak the truth. All it takes is courage.
At the Global Somali Council, We are not after titles or accolades. We call for honesty, and efforts for solutions of Somali problems led by Somalis.
Let us mend what has been broken. Let us reclaim our country. Let us create a future, our children can take pride in, as our parents and forefathers did for us.
Stand up. Speak out.
Somalia deserves it.
