Somalia: Puntland Authorities Prohibit Unauthorized Meetings in Sanaag Region
According to the letter, the administration has taken a firm stance against unsanctioned activities in the region, stating:
"I am officially notifying all concerned parties that the holding of meetings or gatherings in the cities of the Sanaag region without the prior knowledge and approval of the relevant authorities is strictly prohibited and has been suspended until further notice.”
In addition to the restrictions on meetings, the Puntland administration has issued a warning to hotels, private halls, and other venues, cautioning them against hosting any events that have not been formally approved. Establishments found to be in violation of this directive may face legal consequences or operational suspension.
Furthermore, the administration has enforced a new transportation directive, banning all vehicles that do not bear Puntland-issued license plates from operating within the Sanaag region. This move is reportedly part of broader efforts to enhance security and assert regulatory control over the area.
The statement emphasizes the administration’s commitment to maintaining order and ensuring that all activities conducted within the region comply with established governance and security protocols.
