Mogadishu, Somalia (HORN OBSERVER) – Applications for the UK Government's prestigious Chevening Scholarships are now open from 5 August to 7 October 2025, offering fully funded one-year master's degree programs at top UK universities.
The Chevening programme is aimed at individuals with strong leadership potential who are committed to driving positive change in their communities and beyond.
Since its inception in 1983, more than 60,000 professionals from around the world have advanced their careers through the programme — including over 100 scholars from Somalia.
British Ambassador to Somalia, Charles King, praised the talent and drive of Somali youth:
"Somalia has an incredible pool of talented young people eager to create change in their communities. I’m continually inspired by the dedication and drive of the Chevening community, and I look forward to seeing what the next generation of Somali leaders will bring.”
Applicants must demonstrate exceptional leadership, influence, and networking skills through well-evidenced examples. Prospective scholars are encouraged to review application guidance at chevening.org/guidance before applying through.
Chevening is funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations, reflecting the UK’s long-term commitment to supporting future global leaders, decision-makers, and influencers.
