Mogadishu, Somalia (Horn Observer) Somalia Opposition lawmakers united under National Salvation Council issued a statement accusing the Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud for continued inference and sabotage in the parliament affairs, while the MPs also accused the speaker Sheikh Adan Madobe for commandeering the parliament, statement from lawmakers said.

"Its unfortunate that the 6 session of the parliament ended without tangible achievement and most of its session cancelled due to interference from the executive branch and the 7th session has not been officially for unknown reasons.” The statement from the lawmakers said.

The statement further said  accused the speaker of the parliament for not abiding the constitution and the laws of the country  but rather busy in instigating division and corruption and failure of to uphold the democratic government.

Analysts said that president Mohamud plans to seek 2 year term extension from the lawmakers once he returned from the United States, where he travelled there on this weekend.

Term extensions are not easy in Somalia’s fragile policy.  The previous president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo sought similar term extension, but resulted in pubic uprising, where some of the government forces aligned with the then opposition blocked the city for several days, forcing him to undo the extension  proposal.
