    Five killed in blasts in Mogadishu and Baidoa

    MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) - At least five people have been killed and another one was injured in two separate blasts in Mogadishu and Baidoa town, officials and witnesses confirmed.

MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) - At least five people have been killed and another one was injured in two separate blasts in Mogadishu and Baidoa town, officials and witnesses confirmed.

According to sources, two people were killed and another one was injured when a police car hit by improvised explosive device (IED) suspected to have been planted on a roadside in Hilwa district of Mogadishu. The car was extensively damaged by the IED blast.

The victims killed in the blast are said to be civilians. The attack also injured the driver of the car.

In a statement posted its affiliate online media, al-Shabaab claimed the responsibility for the attack saying the blast killed three officers including high rank commissioner.


Elsewhere, the governor of Bay region Ali Wardhere Dooyow has survived suicide bombing attack after a bomber blew up at a barber in Baidoa town.

Three people including one of the governor’s bodyguards were killed in the explosion.

The explosions come a day after two soldiers were killed in blast at a checkpoint in Mahaday town.

Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda affiliate which has been fighting to topple Somali government since 2006 carries out deadly attacks on military bases across the country.
