By: Abshir Nor Baidoa –SOMALIA: The Somali community in the United states donated Medical equipment to Baidoa Hospital through Arlaadi Aid, which was received by the Governor of Bay region in Mogadishu on Saturday amid Somalia is facing health challenges

The medical equipment which are bound to the town of Baidoa, the capital city of Southwest Administration will contribute a significant change to the ICRC Administered hospital in Baidoa, that were already suffering poor quality of medical equipment or not meeting the quality standards required at the modern hospitals.

The governor of Bay region, Abdirashid Mohamed Abdullahi received the equipment from Nor Mohamed Nunow from Arlaadi Aid on behalf of Somali community in the United States in the Somali capital Mogadishu Saturday and called the other Somalis in the Diaspora to support their brothers and sisters in Somalia. The governor unreservedly thanked the Somali community in the US for their whole heartedly support.

"Your contributions and donations will make difference in our community in Somalia.” Abdirashid Mohamed Abdullahi, the governor of Bay region said at the handover ceremony, ”While thanking your generous offer, I urge you to continue as your support will make major changes in our people in Somalia.”

Hon. Yacqub Mohamed Ali, a Federal member of the parliament, who was present at the handover ceremony in Mogadishu similarly thanked the Somali community in the US who donated these important health equipment, which responds the actual need of our hospital.

Few modern hospitals were opened in Mogadishu and still does not meet the required health standards as many Somalis are recommended foreign hospitals for treatment.

Somalia has been in turmoil and lack modern day health equipment since the former military government was overthrown by clan militias in 1991.
