Somali government arrested Mukhtar Abu Mansur last year after announcing his candidacy to run for president in the Southwest State of Somalia following formation of a local political party.  The government deemed Abu Mansur’s candidacy serious challenge for current president Southwest state of Somalia Abdiaziz Laftagareen who was at the time running for the post.
