
South Sudan detains journalist incommunicado


In a July 16, 2021 Statement issued by UJOSS President Mr Oyet Patrick Charles, the union condemns the continued detention of the journalist without being produced in court.
Mr Alfred a News Reader with the government - owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation ( SSBC) is accused of allegedly deliberately refusing to read contents of President Salva Kiir's decree announcing members of the State of Council.
The journalist was first arrested on July 2, 2021 and released on July 4, 2021. But on July 5, 2021 Mr Alfred Angasi was rearrested and has since remained detained in unknown military safehouse.
UJOSS is demanding for his immediate release or production in court if he has any case to answer.
On July 9, 2021 South Sudan marked 10 years since the
country attained independence.

South Sudan detains journalist incommunicado
Union of Journalists of South Sudan (UJOSS) is concerned on the continued detention moreover incommunicado, of journalist Mr Alfred Angasi by the army.
