MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) - Somalia's President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo issued a directive on Monday morning that declared Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble's dismissal of the country's internal security minister, Hassan Hundubey Jimale "illegal" and "unconstitutional."
In a statement, Farmaajo said the current task of the government by led by Roble was to bring the country to elections.
"The dismissal of Internal Security Minister FGS, Hon. Hassan Hundubey is illegal, unprocedural and unconstitutional. Any Ministerial changes which violate due process of the Somali Provisional Constitution is null and void," the statement by Villa Somalia reads in part.
The dismissal was also rejected by Jamale himself saying the PM is contradicting his own rules.
"PM Roble said to his ministers: You cannot remove anyone because we are in a transition period, and the country is entering elections, so he should follow the rules that set out for his cabinet!"
Jimale termed Roble as a caretaker PM saying he does not have the power to remove Ministers.
On Wednesday, PM Roble replaced Jimale with opposition lawmaker Abdullahi Mohamed Nur as the security minister.
A feud between Somalia's president and prime minister escalated on Tuesday after the two leaders faced off over the suspension of NISA chief, Fahad Yasin.
