    Government and Al-Shabaab Claim Conflicting Death Toll in Central Somalia Fight

    MOGADISHU, Somalia (HORN OBSERVER) - The Somali government and the al-Shabaab group have reported conflicting numbers of dead following a recent battle in the Galgaduud region.

MOGADISHU, Somalia (HORN OBSERVER) - The Somali government and the al-Shabaab group have reported conflicting numbers of dead following a recent battle in the Galgaduud region.

The conflict occurred in the Dhabaqle area of Galgaduud, central Somalia. According to the government, they killed 50 al-Shabaab militants during the fighting.

However, al-Shabaab claims that at least 27 government soldiers were killed, and 38 others were injured in the battle, which took place over several hours in the Waniile area on the outskirts of Eeldheer district.

There are no independent sources to confirm the casualty figures reported by either side.
