Adale,(Horn Observer) – Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud continues to engage in a series of meetings with local elders in Middle Shabelle region, amid efforts to intensify the offensive against the Shabab, which Somalia listed as a terror group, Somalia's National News Agency (SONNA) reported.

President Mohamud’s travel to coastal town of Adale follows after the Somali National Army, with support from local communities, launched a series of coordinated air and ground targeting Al-Shabaab militants in the Middle Shabelle region. The operation focused on areas where the Al-Shabaab fighters were hiding, successfully regaining control of these regions and ensuring the safety of the local population.

The elders and intellectuals praised President Mohamud for his commitment to accelerating the fight against terrorism and ensuring the safety and stability of the Middle Shabelle region.  aaccording to SONNA, the support of local leaders and intellectuals remains vital in mobilizing communities and ensuring the success of the SNA’s mission. President Mohamud’s visit to Adale highlights his dedication to securing Somalia’s future.

This operation is part of the ongoing efforts to counter Al-Shabaab, which has been active in the region for years, aiming to destabilize the local population. Military officials confirmed that the operation is still underway, with both ground and air forces working to eliminate the threat posed by the militant group.

The SNA forces have called on civilians to remain vigilant and cooperate with security forces as efforts continue to secure Middle Shabelle and prevent further militia attacks.
