MOGADISHU (Baraarug) - In Somalia, people living with disabilities often face immense challenges—ranging from stigma and discrimination by family members to societal exclusion and physical barriers. Yet, amid these obstacles, there are inspiring stories of resilience and success.

In this episode of the Baraarug Podcast, hosted by Anfa Aden Abdi, discusses the powerful journey of Mohamed Abdisalam Diriye, a young, educated man with disabilities who has become a leader in his community. Not only is he the Chairman of the Somali Network for Disability Rights Advocacy in Mogadishu, but he also teaches at a local university and heads his household.

The program touches key challenges facing people with disabilities including lack of inclusion programs, and the recent laws that have been adopted to address those challenges.

Additionally, the show takes to Mogadishu and Baidoa to hear directly from individuals living with disabilities, shedding light on their personal challenges and the barriers they continue to face in their everyday lives.
