MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) The Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has executed two young kids who attempted to flee from its forced training facility in Mogadishu and injured three others last week, Horn Observer has learnt.

According to security sources and medics, the two young boys, Ahmed aged 18 and Mohamed aged 13, were shot dead by NISA officers following a failed attempt to escape from the Shirbow training camp adjacent to NISA's main headquarter in a tranquil neighbourhood in Shibis district on Tuesday last week.

Horn Observer visited the Ummah hospital where three others, whose names were not revealed due to safety concerns, were admitted and are nursing from bullet wounds.  At least one of them had a critical leg injury.

"The five boys, who are not from Mogadishu area were brought for training. Every Tuesday they are taken to El-Adde area on the East of Mogadishu for training. After the training last week, they have attempted to run from the camp. The guards shot them. Two died and three others were injured," the source privy to the incident told Horn Observer.

The bodies were buried without the knowledge of their families inside two graves secretly prepared inside the camp, the source adds.

There is very limited information on the overall number of trainees in this camp. At least one source confirms that two omnibuses full with young trainees are transported every Tuesday and Thursday from the camp to El-Adde as a target range.

Several local media houses have reported families tracing missing children in the past few months.  On April 21, Maryan Sharif Abdukadir, Mogadishu resident has told Dalsan TV that she was missing her son Nasru-diin for three months.

"I have not seen my son for three months now. I was told that he was taken for military training. I went to the military commanders they did not show me. I am now desperate. I don't know if he is dead or alive," traumatised Ms. Abdulkadir told Dalsan TV.

As many families report missing kids, multiple accounts in Mogadishu have also revealed that the Somali government has sent unknown number of young boys to Eritrea and Qatar for intelligence and military training but the government has never spoken on this matter publicly.
