Galkacyo, Somalia (Horn Observer) The US Africa reportedly conducted an airstrike at the Golis Mountains, approximately 65 km southeast of Bossaso on Tuesday, US Africa Command said in a press release.

Regional forces allied with Somalia’s Puntland state of Somalia, getting limited air support from the International partners, have been fighting ISIS fighters based on the mountainous areas of Bari region with partial success.

"In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) conducted airstrikes targeting ISIS-Somalia on Nov. 18, 2025.” US Africa Command said, "The airstrikes occurred in the vicinity of the Golis Mountains, approximately 65 km southeast of Bossaso.”

"AFRICOM, alongside the Federal Government of Somalia and Somali Armed Forces, continues to take action to degrade ISIS-Somalia's ability to threaten the U.S. Homeland, our forces, and our citizens abroad.” The Statement added.

Analysts believe that the fight against ISIS could take long term and might have both economic and security setbacks not only for Somalis but also beyond.
