AFRICOM Conducts Airstrike Against al-Shabaab in Somalia
According to AFRICOM, the strike took place approximately 175 kilometers west of Mogadishu as part of ongoing joint efforts to weaken al-Shabaab’s operational capabilities.
AFRICOM said it continues to work alongside the Somali federal government and Somali Armed Forces to degrade the militant group’s ability to threaten U.S. forces and American citizens abroad.
The command did not disclose specific details about the units or military assets involved, citing operational security concerns.
The strike comes as Somali and international forces continue military operations against al-Shabaab, which remains one of the country’s most significant security threats.
