The discussions focused on Italy’s long-standing engagement with Somalia and its partnership with the European Union in supporting the country’s security sector.

The ambassador highlighted Italy’s continued cooperation with Somali institutions and its commitment to efforts aimed at strengthening stability. Italy is the only European country with an embassy in Mogadishu, reflecting its longstanding diplomatic presence in the country.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on EUTM Somalia’s work to strengthen the capabilities of the Somali Security Forces and on Somalia’s current security priorities.

EUTM Somalia is part of broader international efforts to support the development of Somalia’s security institutions through training and advisory assistance.
