    Ex-Shabaab assassin appointed to lead Mogadishu police

    MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) - Banaadir region police commissioner, Sadak Omar Hassan aka Sadak John has been fired hours after he suspended parliamentary session in Mogadishu.

MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) - Banaadir region police commissioner, Sadak Omar Hassan aka Sadak John has been fired hours after he suspended parliamentary session in Mogadishu.

In a statement, Somali police chief, Abdi Hassan Hijar has appointed Farhan Mohamed Aden, aka Farhan Qarole, to replace Sadak John.

The new police commissioner was directed to assume the office with immediate effect.

Newly appointed city police boss, former al-Shabaab mid-rank leader reportedly took part in al-Shabaab attacks against government officials.

Faran Qarole was operating in Mogadishu's Bakaro market, which was then the militant's stronghold area in Mogadishu, before defecting to Somali government some year back.


Sadak John has mid this morning called on Somalia's lawmakers to seek an extension from their constituents.

The immediate former city police boos said he took the decision to suspend today’s parliament session to avoid violence and power grab.

"I’m responsible for and in charge of Mogadishu security, all parties, whether government or opposition will be treated equally before the law,” he said.
