    Somalia Government says a high-level al-Shabaab leader Killed in an Airstrike

    MOGADISHU (Horn Observer) Somalia government said on Thursday that a coordinated airstrike against the militants killed a high level Shabab leader near Shashweyne, outskirt of Benadir region.

MOGADISHU (Horn Observer) Somalia government said on Thursday that a coordinated airstrike against the militants killed a high level Shabab leader near Shashweyne, outskirt of Benadir region.


This individual, whose identity was not disclosed by the government, was  said to have vbeen part of an al-Shabaab terrorist network responsible for planning and executing several bombings and assassinations in Mogadishu that have killed innocent Somali citizens.

Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo authorized the coordinated operation with international partners, the statement from the Ministry of information said.

"The President and his administration remain resolute in their commitment to eradicate al-Shabaab's ability to conduct senseless acts of violence and crimes against the people of Somalia, its East African neighbors, and the international community.” the statement added.

Somali security forces suppored by the US forces recently killed Shabab governor, Ali Mohamed Hussein (Ali Jabal) in a coordinated strike.
