GARISSA (HORN OBSERVER) - Kenyan security forces on Sunday announced the arrest of at least three al-Shabaab suspects two days after three non-locals were killed and another injured in al-Shabaab attack at construction site in Dhobley town, Garissa County.

In a statement, the police said more security officials who have been deployed to the region to tame al-Shabaab gang have managed to nab suspects including a man from Somalia.

According to the statement, the suspects are said to have in connection with the murder of the construction workers.

"The trio are suspected have taken part in the attack that claimed lives of non-locals who were working at a construction site in Dhobley town in Garissa County,” the statement reads in part.


In the early morning of last Friday, armed al-Shabaab fighters had stormed a construction site in Dhobley, killing three non-local workers and wounded another one.

Through its affiliate media, al-Shabaab claimed the responsibility for the attack.

In recent year, Al-Shabaab group has been attacking areas along Kenya-Somalia border while targeting mostly non- locals working in the region.

Many people, majority of them non- locals have as a result lost their lives with others left with permanent injuries.

Kenya had sent troops to fight al-Shabaab fighters in Somalia.

Currently, Kenya has more than 4,000 soldiers working under the framework of African Union Mission in Somalia (Amisom).
