NAIROBI (HORN OBSERVER) - The family of abducted Horn of Africa Analyst Sheikh Abdiwahab has accused an ill motive people of spreading the rumours that University Don had been found.

In a statement, the family urged Kenyans to continue assisting the family in the search for the kin.

"He is still missing, and his family is unaware of his whereabouts. The family would appreciate any information on his whereabouts and will continue to press the authorities to release him unconditionally," the statement read in part. "The family wishes to dispel claims that Abdiwahab has been found, and encourages anyone spreading false and misleading information to stop."

The Somali Scholar was kidnapped in Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) last week without trace.

Abdisamad was abducted in broad daylight by four men who handcuffed him and bundled him into a waiting double-cabin vehicle.

The disappearance of Abdisamad, who was the executive director of the Institute for Horn of Africa Strategic Studies, has caused an uproar in the country, with the family blaming Somalia Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.

Abdiwahab's wife, Halima Mohamed and his sister Faiso Sheikh Abdisamad claimed last Sunday they had received information that PM Roble was behind the disappearance of the outspoken scholar. Abdiwahab used his social media handle to criticize the prime minister fiercely - especially at the onset of the latest constitutional crisis - and was a vocal supporter of President Mohamed Farmaajo.

"Abdiwahab has been missing for four days, and we have received information that an order from the office of the Prime Minister [Mohamed] Roble has caused him to be abducted," Halima Mohamed said. "It is official that the office of the Prime Minister is involved in Abdiwahab's case. If Abdiwahab is harmed, Roble will take responsibility."

Faiso echoed similar sentiment noting PM Roble had ordered the abduction of her brother.
